Barnes & Noble has announced that it will launch its award-winning NOOK reading experience and leading digital bookstore in the Autumn (mid-October).
This will be the first time that Barnes & Noble dip their toes into international waters. Barnes & Noble are introducing a UK storefront at www.nook.co.uk. UK users will be able to shop from the NOOK Store which will feature more than 2.5 million titles including UK Newspapers, Magazines and Comics. There is no word on UK retail partnerships at this moment, but we expect a full list of partnerships in the coming weeks.
The NOOK Simple Touch, and NOOK Simple Touch with GlowLight will be first to hit UK waters. Chief Executive Officer at Barnes & Noble, William J. Lynch said:
“We are proud to be able to offer our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK. We’re confident our award-winning technology, combined with our expansive content – including books, children’s books, magazines, apps, movies and more – will bring UK customers the options they’ve been waiting for.”
It appears Amazon is going to get some competition! We look forward to getting our hands on a NOOK e-reader and reviewing one in the near future.
